Varsity vs ADAIR COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL (8 - 6) Win By George Spragens: After a sloppy start, the Marion County Knights scored six runs in the third inning and went on to an 8-6 win at home over 20th District rival Adair County. The Indians scored three un-earned runs in the top of the second to go up 4-2, but the Knights racked up five hits in the bottom of the third – including back-to-back RBI doubles from seniors Jackson Willett and Brady Hutchins – to take the lead for good. Willett pitched five complete innings to record the win on the mound, and Noah Spalding pitched two scoreless innings for the save. At the plate, Hutchins led the Marion County offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs. Keaton McCauley was 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk and pair of stolen bases, while five other Knights recorded at least one base hit each, including freshman Xavier Hayden with his first varsity hit – a double in the second inning.
